Pianist Marina Arsenijevic will perform a benefit concert Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Schaap Center for the Performing Arts in Grosse Pointe Park.
The concert begins at 7 p.m., following a 6 p.m. gallery reception at the venue on Jefferson Avenue.
The program features the Michigan premiere of “Tesla Rhapsody,” Arsenijevic's multimedia composition inspired by inventor Nikola Tesla.
According to the Schaap Center's official event announcement, the performance combines music and visual storytelling. Proceeds from the evening will support the nonprofit performing arts center.
Music inspired by Nikola Tesla
“Tesla Rhapsody” brings together piano performance and multimedia elements to explore Tesla's life and imagination.
The concert also includes selections from classical music, film scores and popular music, according to C&G Newspapers.
Arsenijevic has performed internationally and appeared in the PBS program “Marina at West Point: Unity Through Diversity.”
The pianist has described music as a source of hope during the conflicts she experienced while growing up in the former Yugoslavia, C&G Newspapers reported.

General admission tickets cost $50, plus applicable fees.
A $250 VIP ticket includes admission to an afterglow reception with Arsenijevic following the performance, according to the official ticketing page.
