Grosse Pointe South rolled into Grosse Pointe North's stadium Friday, Oct. 23, and left with a 36-0 shutout victory in the crosstown rivalry.
The Blue Devils built an early lead in the first quarter and never let up, according to WJR, which broadcast the game as its final High School Football Game of the Week.
The win pushed South's record to 8-1 and capped its regular season with a victory over its rival.
Both teams now turn their attention to the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) football playoffs.
The MHSAA announced its playoff pairings Sunday, Oct. 25, confirming that South will host Dearborn Heights Crestwood in the Division 2 district semifinals.
South enters the postseason with an 8-1 record, while Crestwood finished the regular season 5-4.
Grosse Pointe North also qualified for the playoffs despite the rivalry loss. The Norsemen finished 6-3 and will travel to Detroit Martin Luther King, also 6-3, for a Division 3 district semifinal.
First-round playoff games begin the weekend of Oct. 30-31.
The MHSAA's 11-player state championship games are scheduled for Nov. 27-28 at Ford Field in Detroit.
Game dates, times and additional playoff information are available on the MHSAA football website.
