Grosse Pointe South's girls swim and dive team won eight county titles and broke seven pool records at the Wayne County Championship on Oct. 3.

The Blue Devils finished second behind Northville at Trenton High School. Grosse Pointe South Athletics reported that the team captured five individual titles, swept all three relays and broke seven Trenton pool records.

The opening medley relay was among the record-setting performances. Mia McGillis, Olivia Blanca, Anna Cooper and Ella Pardon broke the Trenton pool record in that event, according to The Tower Pulse, Grosse Pointe South's student newspaper.

The team broke six additional pool records during the meet.

The county championship results give South a recent benchmark as the team approaches the Michigan High School Athletic Association postseason.

According to the MHSAA tournament schedule, girls diving regional qualification meets are scheduled for Nov. 12.

The girls swimming and diving state finals follow Nov. 20-21, with competition beginning at noon both days.
