Grosse Pointe South will host Dearborn Heights Crestwood at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, in the opening round of the MHSAA Division 2 football playoffs. The Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) announced the pairings Sunday, Oct. 25.

The Blue Devils enter the postseason 8-1 with a 71.889 playoff-point average, according to pairings published by MHSAA senior editor Geoff Kimmerly. That mark made GP South the No. 2 seed in Region 4. Crestwood (5-4, 53.556 points) earned the seventh seed and will travel to Grosse Pointe for the District Semifinal.

GP South is the highest-seeded Grosse Pointe-area team in the field. The Blue Devils ranked No. 5 in the D Zone's Division 2 Top 10 after Week 9 and No. 13 in the Detroit Free Press Super 25 statewide poll.

The Friday kickoff time is listed by MaxPreps and the D Zone.

A win would send GP South to the District Final against the winner of Livonia Churchill (5-4) at Temperance Bedford (7-2), the other District 2 matchup in Region 4.

GP North draws Detroit King on the road

Grosse Pointe North heads to Detroit Martin Luther King in a Division 3 District Semifinal. The Norsemen finished 6-3 with a 52.333 playoff-point average, seeded seventh in Region 4. King (6-3, 66.556 points) holds the No. 2 seed and home-field advantage.

North faces a steep climb. King ranked No. 7 among all Division 3 qualifiers in MLive's playoff-point standings. North came in at No. 24.

University Liggett did not qualify for the Division 7 bracket.

The Knights were listed at 4-4 with 24.750 playoff points and tied for 33rd in Division 7 in Week 8 standings published by the Detroit Free Press.

The final MHSAA playoff pairings did not include Liggett among Division 7's 32 qualifiers.
